WHAT IS IELTS
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills, listening, reading, writing and speaking for people who intend to study where English is the language of communication.
APPLYING FOR IELTS TEST
You can book your test dates by phone, by web site and by going to their offices. Download the form and fill it carefully, visit there website or call the IELTS test centre for test dates and also you can go to their physical address for submission of form, payment and registration for next available test date.
FORMAT OF IELTS TEST
IELTS is available in two formats Academic and General Training. For sudents to study in UK they must complete the Academic Modules.It is the responsibility of the candidate to inform the test centre whether they wish to take the Academic or General Training Modules.
KINDS OF IELTS TEST
There are 2 kind of IELTS test Paper based and Computer based. In Pakistan only Paper Based test is available.
IELTS TEST STRUCTURE
Candidates are tested for all 4 Modules.
Total Test Time 2 hours 45 minutes
Listening Test : ( 4 sections, 40 items, 30 minutes ).
Reading Test : ( 3 sections, 40 items, 60 minutes ).
Writing Test : ( 2 tasks, 150 and 250 words, 60 minutes ).
Speaking Test : ( 11 to 14 minutes ).
The first three modules - Listening, Reading and Writing - must be completed in one day.
The Speaking Module may be taken, at the discretion of the test centre, same day or in the period seven days before or after the other Modules.
IELTS TEST RESULTS
It usually takes around 2 weeks to get the result card after the date of test.
SCORE REQUIREMENT TO APPLY FOR UK
For level 5 Diploma requirement is 5.5 band. In some cases 5.0 is also acceptable.
For Undergraduate Courses minimum requirment is 6.0 band.
For Postgraduate Courses minimum requirment is 6.5 band.
